Growing Scrambled Pegs: Why Social Media is the Wildest Ride Yet

I won’t lie. Social media is a tough and sometimes incredibly frustrating venture. In a world that
craves instant gratification, it’s easy to get caught up in the numbers—how many views, how
many likes, how many followers. It often feels like those stats just don’t grow fast enough.

Realistically, we only launched our social media campaign about a week and a half ago. That’s
barely any time at all, and I have to remind myself of that constantly. But it doesn’t stop me from
refreshing the analytics dashboard a dozen times a day, hoping the numbers will spike. I know
I’m not alone in this. Anyone who’s ever launched a YouTube channel, an Instagram page, or a
TikTok account has probably experienced the same obsessive refresh loop.

When I scroll through YouTube and see creators with hundreds of thousands of subscribers, it’s
easy to feel a little defeated. You wonder, “What the hell? Why isn’t my channel growing faster?”
But then I look deeper—at their upload history, their evolution, and the consistency behind their
success. More often than not, these creators have been posting content for five years or more.
That’s the real kicker: consistency and time.

Patience is Part of the Journey

So I’m learning to take a deep breath and keep going. I’m sticking to my schedule. I’m trusting
the process. I’m following the proposed best practices and content strategies outlined by Meta
for Facebook and Instagram. I’m using SEO-friendly titles, descriptions, and hashtags
recommended by ChatGPT for my YouTube and TikTok posts. Nothing has gone viral yet
(LOL), but that’s okay.

Building a social media presence isn’t a sprint—it’s a marathon. And in the world of motorcycle
travel and overland adventure content, it’s all about sharing authentic stories. I’m not here to
chase trends just for the clicks. I’m building Scrambled Pegs because I believe in the mission, in
the ride, and in the lifestyle. This is about more than social media numbers; it’s about building a
community of fellow riders, explorers, and dreamers.

The Website is Live (But We’re Just Getting Started)

We officially launched RideScrambledPegs.com, and we’ve got a couple of products up already.
Jessica has been hard at work behind the scenes designing merch, organizing photos, uploading
listings, and making everything look clean and professional. There’s still a lot more to come, and
we’re holding off on a full social media advertising launch until the online store is more robust.

But the foundation is there. The website is SEO-optimized, the meta tags are in place, and we’re
focusing on keywords like “motorcycle camping gear,” “Harley-Davidson travel blog,” “solo
motorcycle trip USA,” and “national parks road trip by motorcycle.” As we add new blog posts,
more products, and videos, the site will continue to grow in search rankings.

Promoting Without Being Spammy

One challenge I didn’t fully expect was how difficult it can be to promote your brand in
Facebook groups. Most groups don’t allow any form of self-promotion, especially if it links to an
outside website. So I’ve been using my Scrambled Pegs Facebook page to post and interact,
making sure I’m adding value to conversations rather than just dropping links.

This strategy is slower, but it builds trust. I’m becoming part of the community rather than just a
billboard in the feed. I’m answering questions, sharing travel tips, and joining discussions—and
when someone asks about gear or long-distance riding, that’s when I can naturally mention
Scrambled Pegs.

The Big Picture: Building for the Long Haul

This whole journey is about more than just a ride. Scrambled Pegs is about the idea that anyone
with a motorcycle, a tent, and a dream can explore the country in a way that’s raw, real, and
incredibly rewarding. It’s about embracing discomfort, conquering challenges, and finding joy in
simplicity.

I’m documenting every part of this: from pre-ride planning with the Rever app, to packing lists,
to test rides and gear reviews. All of it will become part of the larger story. And each video, each
post, each blog entry is a piece of that puzzle.

Social media might not deliver instant results, but it gives us something better: the ability to
share our story with people all over the world. And even if the numbers start slow, the
connection we build with those who DO follow us? That’s real. That’s what counts.

So here’s to the long road, the slow build, and the people who show up for the ride. Thanks for
being part of Scrambled Pegs. We’re just getting started.
